(NZRRS)
1926 Starting by acquiring operators in Hawkes Bay and Hutt Valley NZRRS grew to be New Zealand's biggest passenger service operator. NZRRS served most of the major long distance bus services the prinicpal exceptions being in the lower North Island and upper South Island where Newmans the major operator. Suburban bus services where operated in Auckland, Rotorua, Napier, Kapiti, Porirua, Hutt Valley, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. The services were privatised in the 1980's. Long distance services were thinned down and became InterCity. Many rural routes were abandoned and surburban services sold off. The last units sold off were Hutt Valley and Auckland suburban services acquired by Wellington City Transport in 198?
