History: One of two Leyland Lions purchased by Nelson Suburban with both then passing to Whangarei Bus Services. 16 was partially converted to a motor caravan when purchased for preservation. The Lion was a rear engined bus developed from a Worldmaster with rear engine similar to an Atlantean. The other Lion still exists as a movan, but has been repowered with a CAT engine. Lion 17
